Fyrn Landscapes
What to Expect
Fyrn Landscapes takes a considered approach to every project. Good garden work takes time, observation, and trust. Here's what the process looks like from first contact to ongoing care.

Reach out through the contact form with a little information about your garden and what you're hoping for. I'll follow up within two business days. If it sounds like a good fit, we'll schedule a time to meet at your property.
There's no charge for the initial site visit. I use that time to walk the garden with you, understand what you need, and get a clear picture of the site. We talk through what's working, what isn't, and what's possible.
I share my hourly rate upfront. If my pricing is a concern before we meet, I'm probably not the right fit, and that's useful for both of us to know early.
Landscape Design
Landscape Design is available in San Francisco, San Mateo County, Marin, and the East Bay.
-
After the initial site visit I put together an agreement covering everything we discuss and detailed terms of engagement.
-
Once the agreement is finalized and signed, I get you set up in my online client portal where you pay a deposit to start work.
-
I then do a full site survey where I take measurements, analyze your soil, light, drainage, existing plants, and irrigation. We talk more about how you use the space and your preferences.
-
With all that information, I start drawing.
-
I design with maintenance in mind from the first sketch. Plants are selected and spaced for how they'll actually grow, not just how they'll look at installation. What you receive depends on the scope of the project, but typically includes:
-
Bird's-eye plan view,
-
Plant list with notes,
-
Irrigation plan,
-
3D sketch, and
-
Specifications for installation.
-
-
Designs are revised based on your feedback.
-
When a design is finalized, we discuss your options for project installation.
-
For smaller-scale designs focused on new plantings and drip irrigation systems, I can do the installation myself under a new project agreement.
-
While my designs can include hardscape—patios, walls, drainage systems, decking—I don't do hardscape construction. If your project requires that work, I'm happy to recommend contractors I trust.

After installation, I may be available for ongoing garden care.
Design services are available throughout the Bay Area, across San Francisco, the Peninsula, East Bay, and Marin.
Garden Care
Ongoing garden maintenance is available in San Francisco and San Mateo County. I work with a small number of clients, which means the same person shows up every visit and gets to know your garden over time. That continuity is part of what makes the work effective.
At the free initial site visit I will recommend a typical visit length and frequency. For most of my clients this remains fairly flexible based on observed seasonal garden needs.
Garden care is best suited for gardens with some complexity: perennials, shrubs, fruit trees, California natives, or edible beds. If your outdoor space is primarily lawn and hardscape with minimal planting, there are faster and less expensive services better suited to that.
What to Expect Over Time
Gardens take time. The first year is establishment. The second year things start to fill in. By the third year a well-designed garden begins to show what it's becoming. I'm not the right fit for clients looking for immediate transformation or quick cosmetic fixes.
What I can offer is a steady, knowledgeable presence over time, someone who understands your garden's history, notices changes early, and makes decisions based on long-term plant health rather than what looks good on a given day.
If that's the kind of care you're looking for, I'd love to hear about your garden.
