Landscape Design

A drought-tolerant planting in a raised concrete bed in San Francisco. Succulents selected for texture, color contrast, and low water use.
A complex backyard in Cole Valley blending California natives, Asian ornamentals, and native pollinator habitat. Maintaining this garden requires skilled pruning to keep the Japanese aesthetic intact while supporting the ecological planting. I cared for this garden in 2023–24 and returned as the ongoing care provider in 2026.
Late winter bloom in the same San Francisco garden. The mix of rhododendrons, grasses, and native understory plants requires careful seasonal pruning to maintain its layered structure and year-round interest.

An all California native garden in San Carlos with a stepping stone path I installed. I have maintained this garden since 2025.
The same San Carlos garden in spring bloom. Golden lupine has self-seeded throughout, filling the bed with no irrigation.

A small front garden maintained on a biweekly basis. Once a year, I dig the entire bed and replant with hundreds of spring bulbs in three successive layers, timed to bloom in sequence. The result is this stunning display.
Edible Gardens

A backyard edible garden designed and installed by Fyrn Landscapes, including raised beds, fruit trees, cut flowers, and perennial herbs.

The same pear tree in spring and summer. Fruit trees require specialized pruning and care to produce well year after year. This is one of the most rewarding parts of edible garden work.

Filoli Historic House and Garden
The vegetable garden at Filoli, where I worked as a horticulturist. Growing food at this scale shaped how I think about soil, seasonality, and production.
