About Fyrn Landscapes

Fyrn Landscapes is a San Francisco Bay Area landscaping company committed to sustainable design and ecological gardening. We specialize in creating landscapes that combine California native plants, drought-tolerant design, and edible gardens with ongoing maintenance support.

Rachael Fyrn

My landscaping journey began at Green Gulch Farm and Zen Center, where I practiced mindfulness while tending gardens that reflected the rich ecosystems surrounding the temple. Since then, I’ve worked across diverse landscapes—including public lands, a large private estate, small San Francisco backyards, and as a horticulturist at Filoli Historic Garden. These experiences have shaped my holistic approach to landscape design and garden maintenance in the San Francisco Bay Area.

My design aesthetic blends natural forms, swaths of perennials, curving paths, and stonework. I specialize in California native plants that provide habitat for local wildlife, while thoughtfully incorporating climate-appropriate non-natives and flowering bulbs that thrive alongside them. For those interested in edible gardens and urban agriculture, I create spaces that support fresh, seasonal harvests and offer guidance to help you grow your own food. With a strong background in horticulture, I design gardens that are not only beautiful but also practical, with long-term maintenance and plant maturity in mind.

I believe our cities and ourselves are deeply connected to nature. Thoughtfully designed urban gardens can support biodiversity, sequester carbon, store groundwater, and provide daily opportunities for people to engage with the natural world. Whether you have a small backyard, a larger estate, or a public space, I would love to design a sustainable, resilient garden that thrives in the Bay Area climate.
